91 Day De-Clutter Week 2 KITCHEN

This week for the 91 Day De-Clutter Mary has us working in the KITCHEN, DINING AND PANTRY  . Now if you have been following my blog since the beginning you know that we live in a house that we are remodeling! Which means at some point every room is chaos! At the beginning of this summer we decided we were ready to start working on our kitchen! Since we are working on paying down debt we purchase all the things for the house as we have the money, which means that it takes a little longer to finish each room! We have been buying cabinets for the kitchen for a while, and were running out of space to store them till we could hang them....so we got paint and started with that first! If you want to see what my kitchen looked like prior to us remodeling you can click HERE .

Since our kitchen is a work in progress I did what I could with what was finished and able to be organized and De-cluttered! For the most part the kitchen has been kept clean and tidy for the last few weeks! This was another room my mom had helped me with after I got out of the hospital and had to rest! Thanks Mom!

I started with the drawers, because lets face it ...those are usually neglected most of the time! Please tell me you have a "junk drawer" at your house?? Ours was a MESS!! I could not open it without something inside catching.... Honestly I do not know why we had kept most of what was in the drawer.... I stopped at Staples and picked up some nice clearance containers from the Martha Stewart Office Line...can you believe that these little square containers were only 90 cents each! Go check your Staples and see if you can score some cheap office/organizing supplies!

I moved over to the silverware drawer, which was not too bad!

But really ...how many yogurt spoons and medicine cups should one family have?

The utensil drawer was also pretty clean when I opened it. A while back I threw out things we did not use or need, and now we only keep the tools we use most often in the kitchen!

The only time I wish I had extra utensils is around Thanks Giving and Christmas when I make lots of sides, and need more then what is here!

The left side of my sink area has been cleaned every night so it just needed a quick wipe down. Since we had the new cabinets hung on that side a few weeks back, I had already done some
organizing in them!

One is for dishes that we use every day and the other is for baking supplies! Which are stored in oxo containers!

The right side of the sink was a bit of a mess....and catch all area! At the beginning of the week the doors were not on the cabinets, but were hung by the end of the week!

I was able to clean it up and move some stuff into the area that had been elsewhere for several weeks!

The fridge stays clean for the most part, since I try to do a clean sweep every week and wipe down the shelves!

The freezer....that was another story! And let me tell ya, my hands were like ice cubes when I finished taking things out, throwing things away, and putting them back organized!

But I made it happen!

The table is also an area I try to clean daily, because ...well we eat there...every day! Nobody likes to eat at a messy table!
We do not usually have this much bread on the table but we BBQ over the weekend, so we had lots of buns!

I also keep cloth napkins on the table in that basket!

And I saved my favorite and what I consider the best for last! The outside of the fridge. Here is the disaster it was before the challenge ...
Now the stuff on the front has to stay the same for the most part, because it's business stuff that we use daily! It also has our monthly bills sheet! But ya see the side...that...wasn't working for me! The cabinet on the bottom will be hung soon, it's waiting there for now!

Here is after, doesn't it look a lot better?
The brown file on the front is for "bills to pay"!
Here is an up close of the side! I love the printables I found on Pinterest!
This double file is labeled "to file" and "to shred" since most of these things end up in a pile some place up stairs I made this little command type center! Pop it in the file folder and I figure every Friday I will either file the items away or shred them...both are done in my office down stairs!

Well there ya have it! My somewhat organized and de-cluttered  kitchen! Check back soon to see the kitchen completely finished! :) Don't forget to check the link up page on Mary's blog to see some of the other people doing this challenge....Click    HERE  to go see what they have been doing in their homes!

91 Day De-Clutter Week 1 LIVING ROOM

This last week we worked on our living room for the 91 Day De-Clutter Challenge! If you are a part of Mary's Facebook Organizing Page you might have seen me post a few photos...along with many other peoples photos! Amazing work to all those that joined in, and such beautiful rooms you all have! One thing I love about sharing the photos is seeing how different people can decorate, or how little people have in each room! Big goal for me is to only have what we need or love and use in our home! Not always easy with kids! Right??

I really love how Mary made a printable for each week! It helps to not feel like you HAVE to finish in a day! Since she breaks it down by a new task each day, you can almost guarantee that you will finish each week, if you have even just 20 extra minutes in the evening to complete the task! I mean something is better then nothing, and you will feel so much better when the room is clean and organized! At least I always feel better!
If you want to print the Week 1 Checklist you can click HERE where Mary has shared it! :)

Now my living room was not too horrible to start, a few weeks ago my mom had come over to help clean most of my upstairs with me ...Thanks Mom! So really I just had some toys, clothing (my daughter's) and a few other odds and ends to sort through! We do not have coffee tables so I was able to skip that part of the challenge! However I had not really done any real organizing in our TV stand!

I had a ton...and I mean a ton of cards in one side of my TV stand I took only a few out that I liked and would use over the next year or two, and some for scrap booking and listed a big box on the local Facebook for-sale page in my town! I started my auction at $1.00 and figured if I can't sell them for $1 then I can donate them! Which by the way if you ever have cards...some of the ladies in Mary's Facebook Group said you should look for a nursing home, because they often can use them! Great idea!  They ended up selling for $8.00! And that extra $ will go towards paying down our debt! - More on that in another post ;)

On the other side of the TV stand I keep my Project Life stuff, and my photos! I am sure it wont always be here, but for now this is what works! I cleaned that spot up a bit too since it kind of just looked shoved in!

We keep blankets in the bottom drawer, which usually stays organized since you have to fold them before you put them in!

Next drawer has some books and work out dvd's and weights! This was pretty organized already!

The top drawer has the project life album since it wouldn't fit in the other spot with my other supplies. Plus this drawer was just the right size!

Left top drawer has some game controllers and games .... also stays neat most of the time!

Top right drawer has all my wax melts for my scent warmer! I know I have a ton.... and several of the same kind! I need to get into the habit of turning them on daily so I can use some of these up!

The bannister always seems to be a "catch all" spot...and yes it is almost always mostly my stuff...I know sad...and quite embarrassing! I try to teach my kids to put things back when they are done...and here I am just sitting my stuff up on the bannister, because I forget or become to lazy to take it where it belongs!

Now that the week has come and gone...I am so happy that I was able to get some cleaning and organizing done in this room! Come back next week to see what I did in the Kitchen! :)

Exciting News

Hey everyone! Hope you have all had a great summer! I took a good chunk of time off of blogging and many other things this summer! Wanted to stop in and share some exciting news with everyone! You might already know the news if you follow me on INSTAGRAM !

I AM PREGNANT!!

The photo above was taken on June 1, 2014 a few days after we found out and confirmed with the doctor! At that time I was 5 1/2 weeks along, and my due date is January 29th 2015! We are so excited and can not wait to meet this little guy or gal!

I am now 16 weeks along, and I am in such shock with how fast the weeks are going! I am now looking a little more pregnant! I always hated that in-between stage where no body could tell if you were just packing on a few pounds or actually pregnant! Now it is a little more obvious that there is a "Bun in the Oven" and I am sure it helps on days that I wear shirts like the one above with baby feet! ;)

In the weeks to come I want to get lots of things sold on eBay  and Facebook! We already started getting our daughter's room ready to be shared with the new baby! She has a new "Big Girl" bed! I have also started getting a few things that are unisex together for when the baby arrives, we now have a swing, bouncer and a few outfits!

I saw a fellow blogger  Mary from Mary Organizes  is doing her   91 Day De-Clutter Event   again this year, and it will be finished right around Thanksgiving! Perfect timing to get some clutter out before I deliver! Check back each week for photos and inspiration on clearing clutter in new rooms and areas of the home! Well I have lots to do today, so I better hop off and get to work! Have a great weekend!
