Homework you want to SAVE

If you have kids then I am sure you know they bring home a ton of paper crafts and homework on a regular basis. My son is in 1st grade, and they send home a weeks worth of paper every Friday!  When he was in pre-k his work was more art projects then actual work. Now most everything in his folder is homework, and things they are learning in class. If I keep it all then my house will be overloaded with piles and piles of paper. My plan is to keep a few things every time he brings something home. Good graded work, Nice coloring pages, and special art work and drawings he does. Well I am sure you are wondering where I plan to keep 12+ years of work?? And I have another little one I plan to do the same with...That could be piles and piles of paper if I do not find a good storage area!

I purchased one of those file folder boxes and some files. I have tabs from Pre-K (or daycare) to 12th grade. I do not over stuff these folders, and I really think about the items I put into it. I ask myself a few questions to make sure I am putting things I really want to keep and remember into the folders. I keep all report cards and rewards in this box too! This idea came from I Heart Organizing  where I also go this printable  ------------------>
for the front of the folders.  It has a place for a school photo, and to wright what teacher, and grade the child had or was in. My plan is when my son graduates I will have everything from the folders made into a book, and give it as a gift. I am sure by then I will think of something that might bring some tears to wright in the back of it, about how I watched him grow, and saved the work to look back on how he changed! But I still have a long while before that day comes! What do you do with your child's homework and art projects??

The Big Texan

We just got home yesterday from a 4 day trip to Texas! We left Saturday Morning and got home yesterday afternoon, very short trip. We went to visit some family we had not seen in over two years. It was nice to get out of our town and be on the road, but boy am I happy to be home and in my own bed! On our way there we stopped to eat at The Big Texan Home of the 72 oz Steak! Yes 72 oz Steak, who could eat that??? Well I got the joy of seeing a man from California try to eat it! We left before he finished so I am not sure if he finished and got it FREE or if he had to pay for it! My son had fun playing this zombie shooting game in the restaurant, and I enjoyed looking at the gift shop and wishing I had room in my tummy for some of their yummy fudge! If you go, check out the back of the gift shop, they have a real, live, up close and personal RATTLE SNAKE! Now that I am home I have things to ship out for eBay, laundry to clean, food to cook, and things to get ready for Thanksgiving next week. Hope you all had a fun weekend!

Wrapping Paper, Tissue Paper and Gift Bags

Do you have a million gift bags like me? And tons of tissue paper, and wrapping paper for every gift possible?? I had two large bags filled with bags and tissue paper, then I had a box with wrapping paper and it was just a mess!

Look at how much space this was taking up! I had the paper in our upstairs closet and the bags were downstairs in the family room. Not very functional, if we needed to wrap/bag a gift in a hurry. I started looking around for new ideas on how to store these things. In my "dream" world I would have a craft room and have it look like it came out of a magazine...and well, for most that is not an option right now! I did not want to spend any money, but still wanted everything contained in one spot!
Someone had told me they used a plastic trash can to hold all their gift supplies. I did not have a trash can, however I had the laundry hamper that was in my master closet, now taking up space in the laundry room. So I took the top off (used a screw driver, to remove it). Then I sorted all the bags into "like" piles. Boy bags, Girl Bags, Baby bags, Valentine's Day bags, Christmas Bags, and regular Birthday bags. Then I put them into the hamper, and put the wrapping paper on the sides of the bags. I also folded my tissue paper with like colors, and made it a little less messy. And here is the end result!
This looks so much better, and now it is all in one place. The best part is it cost $0, and it saved me from throwing this hamper in the trash! It is easy to pick up and take to another room, if I have a bunch of stuff that need fixed up. Or I can grab the one item I need if I only have one gift! Now is the perfect time to get your gift stuff organized, ready for Christmas! How do you store your wrapping supplies?

Size Dividers DIY- FREE

SO I RECENTLY JUST BOUGHT A BUNCH OF CLOTHING FROM A LADY IN MY TOWN FOR A REALLY GREAT PRICE! AFTER WASHING ALL OF IT AND SORTING IT INTO SIZE AND SEASON I WANTED TO HANG IT IN MY DAUGHTER'S CLOSET, BUT STILL KEEP IT SEPARATE FROM HER CURRENT SIZE/SEASON. I KNEW IF I DID NOT FIND A WAY TO DO THIS SOON, HER DADDY WOULD DRESS HER IN SOMETHING TOO BIG, OR NOT THE RIGHT SEASON. I ASKED SOME LADIES IN A FACEBOOK GROUP ABOUT SOME IDEAS AND THIS WAS THE ONE I WENT WITH! HERE IS THE LINK I GOT THE IDEA FROM! FIRST I GOT THE EMPTY CEREAL BOX THAT WAS SITTING IN THE KITCHEN. I USED A CUP TO MAKE A BIG CIRCLE, AND CUT IT OUT. THEN I DID THE SAME WITH A PIECE OF SCRAP BOOK PAPER! I GLUED THE SCRAP BOOK PAPER TO THE CEREAL CIRCLES. THEN I TOOK A NAIL POLISH BOTTLE AND MADE A SMALLER CIRCLE IN THE MIDDLE. THEN CUT THAT OUT.
THIS TOOK ALL OF 30 MINUTES! SUPER EASY RIGHT? THEN I TOOK MY LABEL MAKER AND AND MADE THE SIZE AND SEASON I NEEDED (3T WINTER AND 3T SUMMER) THEN I PUT THEM ON THE HANGERS WHERE EACH SEASON/SIZE STARTED. AND THAT'S IT!!
AND THE BEST PART WAS THIS PROJECT WAS 100% FREE USING THINGS I ALREADY HAD IN THE HOUSE. AND I WONT FEEL GUILTY THROWING THEM AWAY WHEN WE DO NOT NEED THEM ANYMORE. I MADE A TOTAL OF 6 OUT OF ONE SIDE OF A LARGE CEREAL BOX, AND ONLY USED TWO. I WILL SAVE THE OTHERS FOR WHEN WE HAVE OTHER SIZES.

Fresh Pumpkin

Do you like pumpkin pie? Or maybe something made with pumpkin? I do, however I do not like the price I have to pay for 1 can of Pumpkin! So what did we do?? On the last day to go to the pumpkin patch, we went and found some really good pumpkins...13 to be exact! We used two for carving, and the rest we are turning into Pumpkin Mush! ;) The best part is each pumpkin was $1, and we have a ton of pumpkin that we can use the rest of this year, and next!
First you need to pick a pumpkin...or two...or 13....Then you cut the top off, and slice it like a watermelon. Clean the seeds and guts off, and put it on a baking sheet. Bake it in the oven on 350 for about 30-45 minutes or until it is tender!
Then let it cool, and cut or peel the skins off. Put the pumpkin chunks into the blender (I used a ninja) or food processor. Then it will look like baby food! ;)
Then I just measured out 4 cups/ bag and laid it flat, stick in freezer and use when needed! For thanks giving I will pull a few bags out and follow a pumpkin pie recipe and just add seasoning and other things needed to make a fresh pie! So much cheaper, and it will taste way better! Now if you have a good pumpkin recipe, please share it in a comment, other wise I will be eating pumpkin pie for a year!
