Spring Cleaning - Oven

Good Morning! Hope everyone had a great Easter! We had a very laid back day, and spent time with our kids! If you have been following along, you have read that I am doing some Spring Cleaning! On Saturday I thought I would do a big deep clean in the inside of the oven! I am kind of embarrassed to show you the photos...and to share this next bit of info with you all! The three years I have had this oven, I have not once ever cleaned the inside! :( When was the last time you cleaned your oven if ever? Well here goes nothing....

Gross right? I can not believe I was actually cooking in this thing!I did side by side photos of the before (left photo) and the after (right photo) to show you how bad it was, and now how beautiful it is! I knew before I started cleaning it I wanted to use something that did not have fumes and would be bad to be inhaling. I read several ways others were cleaning their oven's and went with what I had!

 -Vinegar
- Baking Soda
- Dish Soap

I mixed a few drops of dish soap with the baking soda, then added a small amount of vinegar until I had a paste. Baking soda and Vinegar was a couple table spoons of each. Then I kind of poured it all over the place and rubbed it into the oven. Let it soak in for about 15-20 minutes, then I used a bucket of water and a rag and wiped as much of the gunk out

Then I pressed that nice "self clean" button! (Make sure you do not need your oven for several hours) This was an all day thing, so make sure you plan it! Also I would recommend that you do it when it is nice enough to open up the windows! It stinks! Then your oven will start at the highest temperature and work its way down to the lowest and then it will be super clean inside! I plan to do this again around October

  1. I have tried and tried to get my oven windows clean. They have gotten better, but still have gunk on them. I have used everything!

  2. Oh bummer Steph! I do not have a window on my oven, so I have no tips for you :( If I run across something that I think might work I will send it your way!

  3. Cookie sheets that have baked on crud, or solid glass bowels that have turned from white inside to tan can all be left upside down or right side up for cookie sheets while oven is on self clean. My cookie sheets ( good ones, not cheaper ones) were a ugly mess. Bowls were not clean able! Not bright while inside, and one bowl had a yellow line. ALL came out looking better then new! MUST be oven safe glass, and cookie sheets have to be quality ones, not bendable cleap. I was shocked when oven cooled and I saw my stuff. My friend had told it worked, but it does!

  4. MJ Thank you for that tip! I will have to keep that in mind the next time I need to clean the oven! Do it all at once! Glad you found a way to get your bake wear looking as good as new! :)
